Man charged with assaulting a police officer

An 18-year-old Embro man has been charged with assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest in connection with an incident in Ridgetown early Friday morning.

At around 1 a.m., police said an officer on patrol saw a man walking east on Main Street who was holding an open beer in his hand and appeared to be intoxicated. The officer approached the man and seized the beer. When the officer asked the man for identification he fled on foot.

According to police, the officer caught up to the man on Harold Street. The man grabbed the officer's vest in an attempt to throw him off balance and resist arrest.

Police said officer gained control of the man and he was taken into custody.

Several booze related offences in Ridgetown

 

CK police officers issued seven tickets for various offences related to the Liquor Licence Act in Ridgetown Thursday night. Those charged were between the ages of 17 and 21. The incidents occurred in the areas of Cathcart Street, Hillsdale Avenue and Main Street East.

 

Thief snatches shoes

Police are looking for someone who smashed the front door at The Closet on King Street West and grabbed a pair of size 10, red and blue Air Jordan shoes, valued at $100. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Friday.

Motor vehicle crash in Blenheim

No one was injured in a three-vehicle collision in Blenheim on Thursday afternoon. The crash occurred on Chatham Street North, between Graham Street and Hyland Drive.

Total damage was estimated at $7,000.

A 32-year-old Chatham woman was charged with following too closely.

 

Careless driving charge in Wallaceburg

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with careless driving in connection with a two-vehicle collision Thursday night in Wallaceburg.

No one was injured in the crash that occurred around 9 p.m. on Beth Street near Dauw Avenue.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000.
